Suzy Kloner Design: Nanny Nursery Bath
I am beyond thrilled to announce that I will be designing a space for the 2017 Pasadena Showcase House! This is truly a dream that has come full circle and definitely something to check off my design bucket list! When I was a spry young teen, I used to volunteer as a docent for design houses in Hancock Park, which is how I was first introduced to interior design. I absolutely fell in love with design and thought....wait, I want to do this, how do I do this?
As a docent we were able to first tour the showcase house before any construction started, I always loved learning the history of the houses that were chosen and the beautiful timeless craftsmanship that went into building them. It was a unique opportunity to get to explore these historic gems built in the early 1900-1930's and the architectural details that defined their romantic history.
It is such an honor and career goal to be chosen and featured in the 53rd annual Pasadena Showcase house. This years house is a stunning tudor style home built in 1916 and sits on an incredible piece of property with magnificent views. I was chosen to design and remodel the Nanny Nursery bathroom which is a light and bright space that will be an incredible before and after. Once demo started It was amazing to peal back the layers and stumble upon wallpaper that must have been almost a century old and tile that was at least an inch thick. We are creating a design that will speak to the era of the home while incorporating timeless fixtures and blending the with updated on-trend materials. It is going to be a very fresh yet classic space and I cannot wait to show if off!
I can't reveal too much but here is a little sneak peak of the amazingness and a couple of the materials we will be using....the rest you will have to see in person when the house opens April 23rd!!
